Orthodontics

(A beautiful, confident smile)

Orthodontics is a branch of dentistry that deals with the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of improper tooth positioning and jaw irregularities.

This speciality focuses on achieving a proper bite and aesthetic smile while improving overall oral health. Orthodontic therapies can be recommended for patients of all ages, from children to adults, who have aesthetic irregularities or bite issues.

Fixed or Removable Braces

Fixed braces are a traditional form of orthodontic appliance consisting of metal brackets and wires used to achieve the correct positioning of teeth. The brackets are bonded to the tooth surface, and the wires are adjusted to achieve the desired tooth movement.

The removable braces we practice today are in the form of clear aligners, branded as ClearCorrect. They are made from transparent thermoplastic material and are worn discreetly on the teeth. The duration of the therapy also depends on the number of aligners, which are regularly changed to achieve the desired tooth movement and proper bite.

What are the benefits of orthodontic therapy?

Correcting irregularities: orthodontic therapy allows for the correction of misaligned teeth, improving the function and aesthetics of the smile.

Preventing oral problems: properly aligned teeth are easier to keep clean, reducing the risk of cavities, gingivitis, and other oral diseases.

Improved confidence: a beautiful and correct smile can boost confidence and social interaction.

What does the orthodontic therapy process look like?

The process begins with a consultation where the dentist conducts a thorough examination of the mouth, teeth, and jaw. After that, you will discuss the therapy process and the optimal choice of braces.

The dentist provides instructions for further necessary examinations, such as an orthopantomogram, taking a digital impression of the jaw, and photographing the jaw and face to determine the diagnosis and treatment plan.

The process of fitting braces depends on the type of braces, where fixed braces are attached to the teeth, and the wires are tightened and adjusted. Removable braces are made according to the impression, and depending on the plan, the number of aligners changes.

In orthodontic therapy, follow-up appointments are crucial, where the dentist adjusts the braces or prepares new aligners. In both cases, the patient may experience pain or sensitivity due to the action of the braces, and it is important to follow instructions for food consumption and proper oral hygiene maintenance.
